From the First Reporting Period: The European Commission's Report on the Energy Efficiency of Data Centers in the EU

The European Commission's report of September 21, 2026 assesses what data centers in the EU reported in a first reporting period, when only part of those required to report did so. It gives average scores for power and water use, and sets out a first step toward minimum performance standards.

Liquid Cooling in Tropical Data Centres: Singapore's Standard SS 726

On August 27, 2026, Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority and Enterprise Singapore announced a national standard for liquid cooling in data centers in hot, humid climates. Their release and its fact sheet say it gives operators guidelines on design, commissioning, risk and operations, including on integrating liquid cooling with existing air-cooled data centers.

Below the Rated Power, in a Simulation: A National Laboratory Measures the Power Drawn by AI Jobs

A paper whose authors give the National Laboratory of the Rockies as their address, stamped April 8, 2026, measures the power drawn by AI training, fine-tuning and inference jobs on a specific hardware setup, and scales the measurements up to two simulated data centers. In both, peak power stayed below the rated design. The paper lists its own limitations.

A Backlog of Orders and Contracts: Vertiv's Results for the Fourth Quarter of 2025

Vertiv, whose portfolio covers power, cooling and IT infrastructure, reported its results for the fourth quarter of 2025 on February 11, 2026, with growth in its orders and in its backlog. The release does not split its orders or its backlog between power and cooling, and it says its forward-looking statements, its guidance among them, are not guarantees of performance.

Direct Liquid Cooling: Super Micro's Call on Its Results for Fiscal 2025

On August 5, 2025, Super Micro Computer held its call on the fourth quarter and full year of its fiscal 2025. Its published script says the quarter's growth "was led by demand for next-generation air-cooled and direct liquid-cooled (DLC) AI GPU platforms," and describes what the company calls its Datacenter Building Block Solutions.

Utilized for Liquid Cooled Servers: Munters' Order for Cooling Distribution Units

On November 7, 2024, Munters said it had received an order from a US colocation provider for its LCX system, a water-to-water cooling distribution unit "utilized for liquid cooled servers." The release also gives the company's own account of what liquid cooling and such units are for.

Cold Plates and Immersion: Direct Liquid Cooling in the Best Practices Guide for Energy-Efficient Data Center Design

A best practices guide for energy-efficient data center design, revised in July 2024 with the support of the U.S. Department of Energy's Federal Energy Management Program, says data center operators should consider direct liquid cooling of high-density servers, and sets out how cold plates and immersion carry heat away.

Liquid-to-Chip Cooling: Digital Realty's Release on High-Density Deployment Support

On May 15, 2024, Digital Realty announced direct liquid cooling as an addition to its high-density colocation offering, with deployment options available in more than half of its data centers worldwide. It gives no count of racks in use.

What Is Measured, and What Is Made Public: The Annexes to the European Commission's Delegated Act on a Rating Scheme for Data Centers

The annexes to a European Commission delegated act, dated March 14, 2024, set out what data centers must measure and communicate to a European database, from energy and water to reused heat, and how scores such as Power Usage Effectiveness are calculated. The database is to be publicly available on an aggregated level, by Member State and for the Union.
