Baker Hughes, which describes itself as an energy technology company, released its results for the third quarter of 2026 on October 27. The release lists the quarter's main awards, and two of them are power generation orders tied to AI. Every figure here is the company's own statement, and the release names neither customer. Parts of it follow, not the whole.
Two Orders for AI Computing
The larger is "a major integrated power generation order" to supply 1.1 GW of power "for a major U.S. technology company." The orders, the release says, include 43 NovaLT and Frame 5 gas turbine packages, with gearboxes and generators, "to provide reliable, scalable power for advanced computing infrastructure supporting AI model training, inference, and physical AI workloads."
The second is "a major power generation equipment order" representing approximately 500 MW "of power capacity for AI infrastructure development." Baker Hughes says it will provide 18 Frame 5 gas turbine generator packages "to support data center projects for a U.S. energy company."
These are orders the company reports for the quarter. The release gives no delivery dates for either, and does not say where the turbines will run.
The release counts power ordered, not power delivered.
The Segment's Order Book
Both orders sit in the company's Industrial & Energy Technology segment. Its orders for the quarter were $5,886 million, which the release says increased by 42% year over year, driven by continued strength in Climate Technology Solutions, Gas Technology Equipment and Gas Technology Services. In the statement that opens the release, the company says "broad-based demand across data centers, space, LNG and gas infrastructure, together with ongoing capacity expansions," reinforces its long-term growth outlook.
The segment's remaining performance obligations ended the quarter at a record $39.4 billion. Within that, Gas Technology Equipment accounted for $16.5 billion.
What the Release Cautions
The release carries a warning on forward-looking statements. It says such statements, "including forecasts, may be substantially different from actual results, which are affected by many risks." Among the risks it lists is the company's ability to execute on orders and remaining performance obligations "in accordance with agreed specifications, terms and conditions and convert those orders and RPO to revenue and cash."
